1-Stage = Less Efficient operating at 100% every time
2-Stage = More Efficient operating at higher speeds only when required
Argument for a 2-stage furnace: A 2-stage furnaces give buyers the best balance between cost and value. They are more expensive to purchase initially than a 1-stage, but run more quietly and more efficiently. Air quality is also significantly improved in the home if your 2-stage furnace has a humidifier.
