I'm constantly amazed at the number of homes we see with the WRONG SIZED furnace or AC compressor installed. There's an EXACT science behind the sizing of HVAC equipment and it's not very forgiving.
Surprisingly, an OVER-sized furnace or compressor is just as bad (or even worse) than having UNDER-sized equipment.
For example, an UNDER-sized AC compressor might not be able to cool your home down to a desired temperature. But an OVER-sized AC compressor could literally freeze up and not work at all. Either way, your unit won't be running at its peak efficiency, which always leads to discomfort.
When replacing your furnace or AC compressor, never assume that the old unit was the correct size. Your technician should always run the numbers to make sure you're installing a properly sized unit for your home.
Don't be swayed into installing a "bigger" piece of equipment just because someone can make you a "deal." A wrong sized unit WILL ALWAYS have poorer performance and a shortened life span.
All of that will cost you money in the long-run.
